Update: Friday, September 29, 11:42 PM - Good news for residents in the Durham area! Power has been successfully restored to hundreds of customers. However, according to PG&E's outage map, 672 customers still remain without power in this vicinity. The utility company anticipates full restoration of power by 4 a.m. tomorrow morning, if not sooner.

In the Chico area, the situation is improving as well. Over 5,000 PG&E customers were affected, but power is expected to be fully restored shortly after midnight tonight.

Moving further south from Durham, the Nelson area also experienced outages. As of this update, more than 500 PG&E customers in this region are without power. Restoration is projected to occur just after midnight.

Additionally, at 11:15 PM, PG&E reported 422 customers without power in the Concord area. Then, at 11:36 PM, an additional 741 customers lost power south of Paradise and in the Concord area. PG&E's restoration efforts are underway, and they anticipate these areas to have power again early tomorrow morning.

Update: Friday, September 29, 10:36 PM - The power outage situation continues to affect thousands of PG&E customers across Butte County, with Chico bearing the brunt of it. In their latest report, over 5,000 customers in Chico are currently without power. The utility company projects restoration to occur just after midnight tonight.

Earlier in the evening, around 9:45 PM, 5,598 customers lost power in Chico. Meanwhile, in the Durham area, over a thousand customers experienced outages starting at around 7:45 PM, with an additional 989 customers losing power near Durham at 9:23 PM. PG&E is working diligently to restore power to these customers by 4:15 AM on Saturday, September 30.

Further south in the Nelson area, 552 PG&E customers lost power at 9:16 PM, with restoration expected just after midnight.

In light of these developments, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Sacramento issued a Special Weather Statement for Butte County areas, including Chico, Durham, Cherokee, Forest Ranch, and others. Residents can anticipate winds of up to 30 mph and pea-sized hail. While PG&E has not pinpointed the exact cause of the outages, it is likely linked to the current adverse weather conditions.
