Approximately 875 households residing in San Francisco's Chinatown and Nob Hill neighborhoods experienced an unexpected power outage that persisted for several hours on Friday afternoon, as reported by PG&E.

By 4:07 p.m., PG&E's spokesperson confirmed that power had been successfully reinstated for all but four customers.

Local supervisor, Aaron Peskin, took to social media at 2:44 p.m. on Friday to inform the public that the utility giant was actively addressing the situation, working diligently to restore power to those affected.

According to PG&E, the outage initially occurred around 1:20 p.m.

An examination of PG&E's power outage map revealed that the affected areas encompassed structures near Pine Street, extending between Larkin and Taylor streets, with power disruptions lasting for a few hours.

Peskin indicated that he received a call from a concerned constituent in Jackson Square at approximately 2:23 p.m., suggesting that the outage was not limited solely to Chinatown and Nob Hill.

In his statement, Peskin expressed his familiarity with such situations, citing immediate concerns revolving around potential food spoilage and the loss of business revenue, particularly on a Friday night.

Initially, PG&E had estimated that power restoration would be completed by 11:30 p.m., emphasizing their commitment to prioritizing the safe and expeditious restoration of power services.
