Radical Innovation 2023: Pioneering Excellence in Hospitality Design and Sustainability

Radical Innovation, which was originally conceived by The Hardy Group in 2006, continues to reshape the landscape of the global hospitality industry. This prestigious annual award competition is dedicated to celebrating excellence in design, architecture, travel, and product innovations. It has become a platform that challenges creative minds, both at the professional and student levels, to pioneer groundbreaking concepts that will shape the future of hospitality. The voting phase for the 17th edition of this competition is now open.

Radical Innovation received an impressive array of submissions, totaling over 100 entries across four distinct categories: Professional Project, Student Project, Professional Product, and Student Product. Among the Professional Project finalists, we have SPINHOUS by Populous and The Turtle Bungalow by Luxury Frontiers. Interestingly, these two companies competed against each other in 2020 when Luxury Frontiers emerged as the winner with Camp Sarika by Amangiri. Now, they face off once more. Cast your vote on the Radical Innovation website to determine this year's champion. The Project Finalists will present their groundbreaking ideas, and the winner will be revealed during the Annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner on October 24th in New York City.

The daunting task of selecting the finalists was entrusted to the Radical Innovation jury, who assessed each submission based on their innovative vision, design excellence, and the practicality of the projects to make a significant impact on the industry. This distinguished panel consisted of experts from various sectors, including hospitality, architecture, and design.

In 2023, Radical Innovation reaffirmed its commitment to the hospitality sector by enhancing its Advisory Board, welcoming 32 esteemed individuals representing different facets of the industry. Notably, Christina Zimmer, SVP of Design at Highgate, and Raj Chandnani, EVP & Chief Development Officer of WATG and Wimberly Interiors, have joined the Project Jury, adding their expertise to the esteemed panel. They join industry luminaries such as John Hardy, the founder/chairman of The Hardy Group; Claude Amar, the managing director of The Hardy Group International; Ellen Brown, EVP of Fulcrum Hospitality; Mark Friesen, principal of Beyer Brown & Associates; Michael Medzigian, chairman & managing partner of Watermark Capital Partners; Damien Perrot, global chief design, technical services, and innovation officer at ACCOR; and James Woods, principal of Kompany Holdings.

Furthermore, Radical Innovation is honored to have John Edelman, the visionary President/CEO of Heller, join the distinguished Product Jury. His expertise complements the veteran jurors, including John Hardy, founder/chairman of The Hardy Group; Claude Amar, managing director of The Hardy Group International; Dan Dobin, co-founder of Valley Forge Fabric; Isaac Kubryk, CEO/founder of Global Allies; and Vito Lotta, VP of Architecture & Design at Hilton.
